8/18/26 Jeremiah’s prophetic rejection and John’s resurrection narrative present two trajectories of divine vindication—one delayed through institutional opposition, the other accomplished through death and restoration. Together they reveal how God’s messengers face hostility that ultimately serves redemptive purposes. Jeremiah receives God’s command to stand in the temple courtyard and speak all God’s words without restraint, hoping the people will listen and turn from evil so God might relent from planned disaster. ( Jer 26 ) Yet the priests, prophets, and people seize him, demanding his death and accusing him of prophesying that the temple will become like Shiloh and the city will become an uninhabited ruin.
